To have and to hold.

I am having so much fun with GELIEFT's designers, Teresa and Stephen :) Working hard while having a good laugh makes it totally worth it! For the past 2 weeks I have been helping them with a GORGEOUS wedding dress for a young girl who's getting married on the 16th of July. Her fitting was yesterday - she looked beautiful and was in LOVE with her gown! Teresa is almost done with the lace molding and then only a few details left.

Busy hand sewing while it was pouring outside..

Bernice (their seamstress) - such a PRO!

The PERFECT fit :)

Karla busy pinning a mock up for me to sew..

This week we were two interns, myself and Karla (she's a 2nd year student at Elizabeth Galloway in Stellenbosch). We had a lot of fun together but unfortunately today was her last day for she's leaving for Namibia tomorrow. I will accompany Teresa and Stephen to Cape Town tomorrow morning to do a bit of fabric shopping with another bride-to-be :)

Can't believe next week is my last week... As the saying goes - time sure flies when you're having fun! So true.

Home sweet home...

Done with our third outfit and onto the next! During our 4 week "holiday" now we have to intern for 3 of them, like I mentioned in a previous post, and we have to sew our 4th look as well. I started my internship at GELIEFT's studio in Stellenbosch yesterday and am having an awesome time! They are extremely sweet, understanding and very helpful :) I will dedicate an entire post every week to keep you updated on what I have been doing and what they are working on (they are amazing at multitasking by the way!). I am very proud of my 3rd look, the fit was perfect and it DID look like a jelly fish if I must say so myself :P

Hellooooo jelly!

Have a good week!

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue :)

Established by Teresa Joubert and Stephen van Eeden, the GELIEFT brand is inspired by Dutch design and French flamboyance and together they create beautiful (impeccably made!) and fashion-forward bridal wear. To celebrate their first birthday in April 2011, the brand gathered 20 of their past brides to be a part of an amazing shoot in Paarl, South Africa where the brides wore their bridal gowns again. I have gathered a few photos of this shoot as well as some of Teresa and Stephen's work to show you just how beautiful and romantic it really is :)

Photos of GELIEFT Bridal and Evening couture as well as a few photos of their prèt-a-porter garments displayed below..

As a part of our curriculum this year we have to do a 3 week internship during our June/July holiday. I heard about Stephen and Teresa's brand last year when a family friend's daughter got married in a beautiful custom made GELIEFT wedding gown. The mother of the bride wore a stunning black lace, fitted, sleeveless, V-neck dress also by GELIEFT. I was imPRESSED..

I decided to take a chance and e-mailed them. We set up a meeting and after showing them some of my work, chatting for an hour and a half (they were very friendly!)and receiving a tour of their adorable studio,  I am happy to say that Teresa and Stephen are allowing me to intern with them! I am extremely excited :D This is such an amazing opportunity for me to learn from two of the best, I will definitely keep you posted.

Wish me luck! :)
